Awesome Running by MSRC Ladies!

Hi everyone!  I am a bit behind on reporting about member races in the last few weekends.  Last weekend Roxanne, Stella and Sarah Magnuson ran the Bear Water 20 miler.  I ran the 10 miler.  Those 3 ran great!  We had a cold start but as we got warmed up it was perfect running weather.  I was not a big fan of the last part of the course due to the traffic but the first 7 miles were very nice.  Lake Ave. along WBL has been closed for construction and we got a preview of the new pathway and it is going to be so nice!

I also want to mention that Heather Vietz ran a half in Montana, her home state, earlier this month and PR’d in that altitude.  Awesome Heather!  That is tough to do.

Today (9/23) was a big day for the group.  It was Women Run the Cities 10 mile race day.  We had 12 ladies compete and all did so well.  The weather was darn near perfect, maybe a little hot toward the end.  The size of the race was nice, just under 400.  I highly recommend this race for next year.  Look at all who ran and crossed the finish line with big smiles:  Linda, Maggie, Sue O., Debbie, Carrie, Dawn, Sonya, Katy, Andrea, Chris, and Me.  We had so many positive comments for our blue shirts!  I am not sure about everyone but I know Carrie had a PR.  It was many of the others first 10 miler so there were many PRs today!

Caitlin ran a PR 5K at the race this morning too!  There were just under 400 in that race too.

Robin ran the half at Fox Cities in Appleton, WI this morning and had a blazing time, 1:49!  She averaged 8:17 per mile!  Whew!  Congrats Robin! I believe this is her half marathon PR!

Lannie competed in the IronGirl Duathlon this morning and did really well.  I have not heard from her but she had a great time!  Way to go Lannie!

What a great day everyone!  You are all so motivating and if you have any comments about your race or your experience please respond to this blog.  I am sure others want to hear all about it.

Have a great week!

What a great day full or friends, fun, and RUNNING!

Days just do not get much better than today.  The weather was wonderful and this morning was a blast volunteering at the water stop.  I hope I remember who was all there:  Maggie, Sarah, Stella, Peggy, Robin, Carrie, Jess, Caitlin, Lisa, Vicki, Miranda, Roxanne, and me.  We had a great time cheering on the City of Lakes runners and trying to NOT get too wet!  The ladies with the blue PowerAde, I feel for you!  I hope you have gotten the stains off your fingers!  Thanks so much for helping out.  I know it was a bit chilly but well worth.  I bet a million bucks we helped a big group of runners get through the race a little easier today.  Thanks for all the enthusaiam!  They asked me if we would do it again next year because we did such a great job!!!

I had a 8 mile run to do today and I kept talking myself out of it.  I am so happy I did not let myself off the hook.  I decided to run at Lake Elmo Park Reserve and do a trail run as my last longer run before the Bear Water 10 Miler I am running this upcoming Saturday.  My day just got brighter the minute I stepped on the trail and away from suburbia!  I was running in corn fields with wild flowers dotting the landscape and eagles flying overhead.  There were plenty of hills but I felt like I breezed right over them!  It was glorious!  I was a bit concerned halfway through because I lost the trail but it really did not upset me like it usually would because it was so beautiful out I would have loved to have run further than I was scheduled for!  I loved every step!  I would (and I am sure others) would love to hear of any of your recent adventures.  Anyone have one of these moments running in the past few weeks?  Days like today sure make running well worth the effort and occasional pain!

Happy Trails until next time!

Recent Race Results

I want to use this blog as a place to celebrate your accomplishments and so far I have not done what I set out to do.  Here is a list of some of your current accomplishments and I hope I will be up to date.  Awesome job to everyone who has been racing!

Today, Labor Day, we had a good showing at the Victory Races.  The following got a PR today:  Sue Olsson, Vicki Brewer, and Lisa Habisch.  Way to go!  The rest of us had a great time:  Peggy, Carrie, Stella, me, and Heather.  Linda was also there doing a great job volunteering!  Way to give back Linda!

Heather ran the Rochester Half marathon in August and met some great people while running.  If you ever want to run this half talk with her.  She had many likes and some dislikes about the race and organization.

Lannie had 2 big races this August:  Brewhouse Triathlon up in Duluth in which she got a PR and a longer triathlon in Baxter, MN called Lakes County Triathlon.  She survived both beautifully after months of training that paid off!

Robin ran a PR at a small 5K called the Fish Hook in Park Rapids, MN.  She also was 1st in her age group 40-44.  Her sister was first in her age group 45-49 and her Dad was first in his age group 70+.  Great job to your family!

Linda and Jane both ran the Heart of Summer at Lake Nokomis in mid-August and both had good races!

Mapping Running Routes

Hey all!

I found out some of you did not know there are websites out there that allow you to create and map out a running route right from your front door.  They all are easy to use and are rather accurate.  Here are three that I use:

www.mapmyrun.com

www.usatf.com - there is a link on the home page to the mapping page
